A GROUP OF FOUR SANCAI AND BLUE-GLAZED FIGURES OF COURT LADY MUSICIANS

Each figure is finely modeled in a composed pose, depicted playing or poised before traditional Chinese instruments including the jiegu drum, sheng, and zither, while the tallest stands in serene contemplation. Each is dressed in a flowing blue robe, beautifully glazed in the traditional Tang style, with floral sancai accents on their garments. Their elaborately coiffed hairstyles, often topped with floral ornaments, and their softly rendered facial features evoke the dignity and refinement of Tang court life. The tallest figure, standing over two feet, adds a striking visual anchor to the group.

Figure of a court musician holding a jiegu drum (hourglass-shaped drum), her posture graceful and composed. She wears a long, flowing robe glazed in deep blue with splashes of amber and green, characteristic of Tang-style sancai decoration. Her hair is styled in an elaborate traditional coiffure adorned with a floral ornament, and her soft, rounded features convey a gentle and refined expression. The vivid glazes and delicate modeling capture the elegance and musical culture of the Tang Dynasty court.

A court lady musician holding a sheng, a traditional Chinese mouth-blown reed instrument. She is elegantly robed in a deep blue gown with sancai-glazed floral accents in amber and green, creating a vibrant yet harmonious palette. Her elaborate coiffure, topped with a flower ornament, and her gentle facial expression are finely rendered, capturing the grace and refinement of Tang court culture.

Court lady musician figure standing before a zither, her hands gently positioned as if ready to play. She wears a deep blue-glazed robe, richly accented with sancai splashes of amber and green. Her softly modeled features and elaborate coiffure, topped with a floral ornament, convey a sense of calm refinement.

Attired in a flowing robe with intricately painted floral patterns in shades of blue, green, and russet, the vibrant colors of the Tang-style sancai glaze contrasting beautifully against her light-colored face and hands. Her hair is neatly styled in a topknot, with a soft brown glaze used to highlight her headdress. The piece is finished with a rich, glossy glaze that enhances the graceful contours of her robe and the fine detail of her posture.
