porcelain
A blue and white barbed-rim plate decorated with a lady in a landscape, an apocryphal Chenghua mark to the base. Finely painted blue-and-white plate dating to the Qing dynasty, Kangxi period (1662–1722) and centring on an elegant figural scene of a lady set within a stylised landscape and enclosed by a delicately patterned border.
Kangxi porcelain remains prized for its brightness of cobalt, assurance of brushwork, and decorative vitality, all of which lend this piece a pleasing sense of refinement and animation.
Modest in scale yet rich in character, it would make a charming addition to a collection of early Qing blue-and-white ceramics, particularly for those drawn to figural decoration.
