With broad shoulders rising to a short neck, the jar is finely decorated in lively washes of underglaze cobalt blue. The continuous scene depicts robed scholars wandering through a stylized landscape, among rocky outcrops, palm trees, and pavilions glimpsed through billowing clouds. A band of linked classic scrolls adorns the shoulder, enhancing the rhythmic movement of the design.
