The jar is finely potted with a broad, high-shouldered body tapering towards a slightly recessed foot, its surface richly adorned with applied relief decoration of flowering plum blossom (mei) branches in full bloom. Covered in a lustrous cobalt blue glaze pooling naturally at the foot, the decoration is further enhanced by a striking sense of depth and movement. The matching cover is shaped like a stylized blossom, its petals curling upward with a central fruit-form knop.
