Ming Dynasty

Description

D: 23 cm (9 in)
H: 38 cm (1.5 in)

Gracefully shaped with a barbed foliate rim, this shallow dish is coated in a thick, lustrous celadon glaze with a soft bluish-green hue, typical of Ming dynasty Longquan ware. The interior is subtly incised with a scrolling peony design around a central medallion with traces of a lotus blossom motif, the decoration emerging beneath the translucent glaze with quiet elegance.
