Ming Dynasty

Description

D: 18 cm (7.25 in)
H: 7 cm (2.75 in)

The interior decorated with a freehand floral spray in iron-brown beneath a creamy glaze, this shallow bowl exemplifies the expressive brushwork of Cizhou wares. The vessel’s wide, flaring rim and gently rounded walls rise from a neatly cut footring, while the unglazed base reveals a dense, buff body typical of northern kilns active during the Ming period.
