19th/20th Century

Description

H: 44 cm (17.25 in)
D: 13 cm (5 in) (base)

The globular body rising to a slender cylindrical neck, boldly painted in vivid cobalt blue with a sinuous three-clawed dragon emerging from tumultuous cresting waves and swirling clouds. The dragon’s scaly body is depicted in white against a dense blue ground of crashing waves, creating a striking contrast. The design continues seamlessly around the vase, displaying dynamic energy and fine brushwork. The base bears an apocryphal six-character Yongle reign mark.
