20th Century

Description

H: 22 cm (8.5 in)
D: 20 cm (8 in) (body)

Robustly potted with a broad, rounded shoulder and a tall flaring neck. Molded around the shoulder are four mask-and-ring handles, their features softened under a lustrous pale celadon glaze. Inspired by early Yue wares, the glaze pools lightly in the recesses, emphasizing the sculptural details. The glaze stops neatly above the foot to expose the fine, buff-colored body, characteristic of the revered southern kiln traditions.
